Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr In an uncommon move, Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh has chosen to change the name of the father of the Indian Constitution, Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, in all official correspondence. As indicated by reports, Ambedkar will now be referred to as Bhim Rao Ramji Ambedkar. Following up on the recommendation of Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, the government has decided to introduce ‘Ramji’ as the middle name of Ambedkar. From now on, all official correspondence of the Uttar Pradesh government will refer to Ambedkar with the new name. Focusing on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the issue, the Samajwadi Party blamed the state government for politicizing the Dalit symbol. SP leader Deepak Mishra said that the move by the BJP government is aimed for changing the perception of the party being Anti-Ambedkar. He said that the BJP does not respect Ambedkar or his ideology but rather was enjoying such acts to target particular votebank. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), be that as it may, rubbished the affirmations. RSS thinker Rakesh Sinha guaranteed that the UP government has simply chosen to use the genuine name of the father of the Indian Constitution, saying there was no politics associated with the move. In the interim, reports said that the UP government had passed a request to all departments in such manner, and had even asked the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow bench to roll out the change in all documents and records. The move was apparently begun by Governor Ram Naik in December 2017. He had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath in such manner. Ramji was the name of Dr Ambedkar’s dad.
