The two chiefs may have shared the stage some time ago yet there is no love lost between them in the run-up to the Lok Sabha 2019 election. A week ago, Rahul had called his previous MP from North Malda a betrayal’. Congress’ Mausam Benazir Noor had joined TMC in January and Rahul was not very satisfied with it. At a rally, he had encouraged people to punish the former MP for the betrayal before preparing attack on Mamata and blaming her for being oppressive. He had even compared her with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the two heads are guilty of running their individual governments without asking any other person. The rebuke from Mamata on Wednesday was “A small boy has said something. I do not wish to comment on that.” For any disheartening plausibility of a alliance between the TMC and Congress, the ongoing fighting comes as a reality check. The two parties had recently tried to team up in the battle to cut down the Narendra Modi government and keeping in mind that leaders of the two parties stay concentrated on that front, their side missions have now started to incorporate attacking each other.
