The occurrence comes after the Supreme Court decided that adultery is not any more a crime in the nation, scrapping the section 497 of IPC. This is the first of its kind case announced after the supreme court decriminalized adultery. The lady committed suicide after her husband, a watchmen, tested that she has no right to stop him from having an extramarital entanglements. Prior, under Section 497 of IPC, adultery was a crime and a convict could get a punishment of up to five-year imprisoned term. Pusplatha, 24, wedded John Paul Franklin, 27, two years back. The couple had an love marriage after a strong opposition from their parents. They had a child. The police is presently questioning Franklin.
