Indian painter Tyeb Mehta’s amazing 1989 Untitled work ‘Kali’, brought an astounding Rs 26.4 crores at Saffronart’s ongoing ‘Milestone 200th Auction’, setting another world record for the artist.

One of the main three standing figures painted by Mehta, the fine art, at first evaluated at Rs 19.8 crores, outperformed his previous world record when his 1994 Untitled (Woman on rickshaw) painting sold for Rs 22.99 crores at a 2017 Christie’s closeout.

“The sale of Tyeb Mehta’s Kali denotes a critical accomplishment in current Indian art deals,” Dinesh Vazirani, CEO and co founder Aof Saffronart, said.
